Rationale/Objective for Position Performing the tasks of transporting authorized goods and passengers in an MSF vehicle, ensuring its technical and safety conditions and respecting the country's traffic rules and MSF security rules, in order to provide a safe, smooth and efficient service. This position will be hierarchically and functionally accountable to the Logistics Supervisor /Manager/Logistics Team Leader. Tasks & Responsibilities Checking daily, the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), performing weekly check according to the MSF Logbook, refilling it when necessary, and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions. Carrying out a hand over if another uses the vehicle Ensuring the security of passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country as well as MSF security rules, in order to avoid car accidents. Ensuring all passengers have all necessary papers in order before travelling, and ensuring non MSF staff sign disclaimers of responsibility before using the vehicle Ensuring correct loading and unloading of the vehicle, submitting the documents to the receiver of the goods, checking the status of delivered goods, returning the duly completed documents to Logistics and ensuring that the goods have the necessary documents Ensuring that all vehicle documents and the driver's driving license are valid and in the vehicle. Informing the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of passengers and/or goods. Knowing how to use all types of radios, codes, call numbers and radio alphabets by heart and communicating with base according to MSF communications policy to inform the driver's position and any potential implications. Knowing and respecting the security rules related to vehicle movements, specifically those related to customs, checkpoints and roadblocks. Ensuring all passengers know and respect the security rules. MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities Work location is Busia town with movements within the county and Nairobi. (Local knowledge of and residence in Busia county is required) Should be ready to be deployed anywhere in Kenya. Assist in ensuring security rules are adhered to and report any incidences to the line manager. Driver must not driver under influence of alcohol or any substance. Comply with the project local security plan. Communicate very clearly and report the departure and arrival on time and consider it as security proceedure. Not allow any non MSF to be in the car unless permited by the line manager and fill the discharge of liability form. No non-MSF items allowed to be in the car. To attend the breifing before any movement and the debreifing after coming back from movement and tells his observation during the trip. Ensure MSF identification is won by passagers and visible in the car. Ensure the communication tools in the car are functioning before any movement. Ensure the car movement sheet is signed by staff/passenger who used the car. Follow the drivers rosters and be 30 minutes earlier in the work place to Check the car, equipment, the first aid kit avaibility and ensure all is ok for the movement. Report to the mechanic or the line manager any abnormal issue with the car before movement. Be responsible for the security water and food in the car during movement. And all items and equipment left in the car including safe Loading and offloading of the vehicle. Must maintaion site of the vehicle all the time when outside of the MSF base. Perform other logistics task is support of the project as instructed by the supervisor. With advice from mechanic, to be aware of the service A,B,C for the vehicle. Qualifications Education Form Four certificate, Valid driving license. Good knowledge of country roads. ROLE PURPOSE: The post holder(s) will provide necessary support to the WASH Officer in implementation of quality WASH programme-WASH constructions, NFIs, Hygiene promotion and Upscaling WASH'em services in communities targeted by Save the Children in the region of Garissa/Wajir/Mandera/Tana River. The post is specifically oriented towards the WASH emergency response in the context of the crisis Elnino preparedness, and special attention will be made Ҁ‹Ò€‹on the integration of the WASH sector in other core sector of Save the Children such as nutrition, food security, health, education and child protection. Reports to: WASH Officer Staff directly reporting to this post: N/A Role Dimensions: Water supply, storage and Sanitation, Hygiene promotion, Construction, Capacity Building, NFI distribution, distribution of water treatment chemicals. KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Program design and implementation Assist the WASH Officer in follow-up and evaluation of activities related to the construction of WASH infrastructures in the communities, such as: Supervision of construction or rehabilitation of WASH facilities (animal troughs, tank platforms, elevated tower tanks, reticulation systems, borehole equipping & solarization). Hold project sites meeting with the contractors, community representatives to provide feedback on the projects. Planning, organizing and follow up of Hygiene promotion for community including leading in distribution of WASH NFI to target communities: items include Jerricans, Buckets, Soap, PUR, Aquatabs etc. Assist the WASH Officer in maintaining WASH documentation and support in documenting success stories from the communities served. Assist the WASH Officer in planning for field logistics for project monitoring and supervision. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Assist the WASH Officer in verifying that WASH infrastructure construction and rehabilitation works done by contractor are carried out according to quality standards established by Save the Children through quality checklists Plan and be responsible for the weekly reporting of data in order to follow up the standard project and strategic indicators (number of beneficiaries, number and type of activities completed. Reporting Writing daily report to WASH Officer, and verbal reports whenever necessary. Integration, coordination and transversal aspects Support the WASH Officer in ensuring that construction works is integrated with hygiene promotion and community participation component, to ensure sustainability of the infrastructure built. Coordinate WASH construction activities with other sectors of Save the Children, to integrate activities in the same geographical area and for the same beneficiaries.
